MMG Issue 117: Sho’nuff With Sanford Greene

Your intrepid trio invite Marvel artist Sanford Greene into the above-ground-under-water-volcano-lair this week to talk about his work and his time on one of Marvels newest books, Power Man and Iron Fist. They get the story of how he got on the book and the way that the creative team works together to give the book its unique flavor. He also shares who’s idea it was to put Luke Cage in a suit. From there he shares some of his early and modern day influences. Mike, Kylan, and Eric let the questions fly and Sanford answers all(well, almost all) in an easygoing manner that makes the interview flow effortlessly.

This week Eric chose the Marvel Unlimited Book of the week, Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 (1972). Sanford’s guest pick was Secret Wars(1984-1985). The guys then , as always, take us to the comic shop for their Picks of the Week!!

Hey Marvelites! Your Intrepid Trio has more Marvel goodness for you!!are you ready for naptime, homework and poopoo diapies? They begin with a recap of Episode 17 The Team. It is everyone’s first look at the Secret Warriors in action and Mike, Kylan, and Eric, have a lot to say, including how, or if, this fits in with Civil War. Eric then talks Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 news with a wish list of who is wanted for the movies. And Eric has an interesting web address that was found and may or may not have a connection. Plus, he shares news about a contest that any GOTG fan won’t want to miss! Mike drops a bomb of a story regarding the Inhumans being currently removed from the Phase 3 roster. Eric follows up with a piece about Chris Evan’s favorite Cap uniform. The guys then all weigh in with what their choices are. Do you agree? Which is your favorite? Mike then wraps up the news with an interesting tidbit about who could step in the place of Old Man Logan.

Mike brings the Marvel Unlimited book of the week with a choice that was inspired by the Freeform show Stitchers, Incredible Hulk # 102(1962). The guys then head to the comic shop for the POW(Picks of the Week)!

MMG Issue 115: Connected By Crossovers

Hey, true believers!! It’s time for another info packed issue of Mighty Marvel Geeks!! The Intrepid Trio starts the show with the biggest bit of Marvel news in the past week, the Doctor Strange trailer. Eric breaks down the teaser trailer moment by moment, but you know Mike and Kylan have plenty to add, too! Mike then brings up a story about the possibility and difficulty of crossover between the television, Netflix, and cinematic universes. Although #itisallconnected the article explains the difficulty and problems that can arise from trying to attempt crossovers of this magnitude. Speaking of crossovers, Kylan pulls up a story about the Inhumans movie getting delayed and how would that crossover work since the figure so prominently in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Kylan then puts the icing on the crossover cake with the preliminary reviews for Captain America: Civil War. Eric brings more movie news with a story about Star Lord and Thor appearing in Avengers: Infinity War with Mike following up with news about Natalie Portman not being in Thor: Ragnarok. Kylan then shares news about Deadpool 2 with Eric following up with further proof that the Intrepid Trio are geniuses with is article about the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Mike then wraps up the news segment with Netflix news about season 3 of Daredevil and filming for The Defenders.

MMG Issue 114: Pretty Little Superpowers

Back on the mission to keep you informed on all things Marvel, the Intrepid Trio return with more Marvel goodness than you can toss Cap’s shield at! Speaking of, Kylan kicks off the show with the recap of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode 15 Spacetime. Mike and Eric share their observations of the episode and where could this all be leading to. Mike then breaks down the episode even more with its biggest moments. Eric then jumps in with fray with what could be the title of the upcoming Spider-Man movie! With Spidey showing up in Civil War and his movie coming out next year, the talk is really just beginning. Kylan returns with an awesome article about Benedict Cumberbatch geeking out Marvel Style. Mike then closes out the news segment with an article about the upcoming Cloak and Dagger series on Freeform. Kylan and Eric also weigh in on how the network may have an affect on how the characters are portrayed.

MMG Issue 113: 30 Stories And Eats Apple Pie

The Intrepid Trio are down one agent for this week’s issue of Mighty Marvel Geeks. Mike and Kylan are in the Above-Ground-Under-Water-Sub-Orbital-Volcano-Lair while Eric is in the field helping Director Coulson. Kylan sets things off with the recap of Episode 14 Watchdogs. Kylan gave the rundown while Mike gave added insight to the Easter egg filled show. From season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the exciting first season finale of Agent Carter, it is all in here. Mike then brings the big moments of the episode and where could all of this be leading to. Kylan then kicks it Netflix style with casting news for Iron Fist. Mike keeps the vibe alive with news about season two of Jessica Jones. Kylan takes the show from television to the MCU with an article about the possible fate of James Rhodes/War Machine. Don Cheadle weighs in on the fans’ reaction and what may or may not be. Mike then share’s a story that is close to his heart, the state of the Gambit movie in light of Fox Studios most recent decision. Kylan then wraps up the news segment with an article about the future of Jessica Jones and Patsy Walker’s friendship when Jessica is introduced in Patsy Walker aka Hellcat. And don’t forget apple pie!

It is a new month, so it is Mike’s turn for the Marvel Unlimited Book of the Month! He surprises all with a classic Cloak and Dagger #1, from the 1983 miniseries. Eric did get to call him his picks and to the fellas give 9 must grabs for your weekly comic book run!

MMG Issue 112: Story Time With Uncle Kylan, Backstory and Book Club

Much like Daylight Savings Time, the Intrepid Trio are back with a spanking new issue of Mighty Marvel Geeks!! They hit the ground running with Eric heading up the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap of episode 13 Parting Shot.. Eric breaks down the high octane episode and Mike and Kylan weigh in with their observations, as well. There’s on point where it might hit you in the feels! Mike then jumps in with the episode’s Biggest Moments, and he does not miss! Kylan then brings it all around with casting news for Marvel’s Most Wanted. The guys begin to use their deductive skills to figure out who Oded Fehr has been cast as…do you think they may be close or way off base? In added TV news Eric shares a story about the possibility of a Captain Britain series! The Trio are hoping this one proves to be true!! Mike then drops another bomb with Jeremy Renner stating how he would love to do a Netflix Hawkeye series! Kylan then bring the Marvel Unlimited Pick of the Week with Hawkeye and Mockingbird #1(2010).

The show the goes in the backstory with two rumor pieces and Marvel Unlimited Bookclub. Eric takes on a rumor about XMen: Age of Apocalypse being the jump off point where the XMen franchise is incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Much is said and Kylan actually starts to get a headache from lack of logic in the story. Mike then wraps up the news portion with a story about the Tower of Terror becoming a Guardians of the Galaxy ride. At this point the Intrepid Trio is almost punchdrunk with the insanity of it all!! Kylan then wraps up the backstory with The Amazing Spider-Man #129(1974).

MMG Issue 111: Marvel-Adjacent With Cullen Bunn

The Intrepid Trio becomes a Quad Squad for this issue of Mighty Marvel Geeks! Mike, Kylan, and Eric invite Marvel writer extraordinaire Cullen Bunn to join them in the Underwater Above Ground Sub-Orbital Volcano Lair to talk Marvel goodness. The conversation kicks off with discussing his critically acclaimed series Drax with his co-writer CM Punk. Cullen gives the inside scoop of how it works to write with someone else and how his years of admiration for Drax figured into the current series. From there the talk goes “Marvel-adjacent” as they discuss his upcoming Micronauts series for IDW and how the previous Marvel Micronauts figures in(it doesn’t). The fellows then finally discuss Cullen’s work with The Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool! Cullen shares some of his techniques for writing Deadpool and which story is his favorite! The talk then moves to his work with Uncanny X-Men and how the book was a bonding title for him and his father. Cullen then share’s which Marvel book he’d love to write for and what Star Wars characters he’d love to do a mini series for.

Eric picked the Marvel Unlimited book of the week, Immortal Weapons #2(2009) and Cullen picked non Marvel Unlimited book, Logan’s Run #6(1977). Then, as usual, they guys give their Picks of the Week!

MMG Issue 110: Underoos + Backstory

Underoos! Mike, Kylan, and Eric, your Intrepid Trio are back with more Mighty Marvel Info!! Eric kicks off the issue talking about the latest Civil War teaser! It left us with more questions than answers!! But, we did get to see Black Panther in action, Bucky cutting loose on Tony, Rhodey getting taken out of the fight, “possibly”, and exactly who’s side is Natasha on?! From there Kylan brings in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap. From Bogata’ to D.C., there was so much in this episode! Plus, the Secret Warriors are finally beginning to form!! Mike then picks it up from there with the episode’s biggest moments, followed by Eric giving a rundown of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy and what it’s all about. Mike then drops the bomb with news about the upcoming Han Solo five issue miniseries and what the basic plot will entail. The fellows then take a moment to pay respect to recently deceased Marvel penciler, Paul Ryan.

MMG Issue 109: Gleeming For Gambit Plus Backstory

Looking for Marvel news that you can use? Kick back and let the Intrepid Trio fill your earholes with Mighty Marvel Goodness!! Kylan kicks off the show with the recap of the season finale (Ep 10) for Agent CarterHollywood Ending” Mike and Eric pipe in with their take on the series as a whole, also. Mike then picks up where Kylan left off with the top moments from the episode. There’s even a nod to Lola in it!! Eric then finishes up the Agent Carter talk with an article about why the show needs to return for one, if not more, seasons!!

Mike then drops a bomb with a news piece regarding the Big Hero 6 Disney XD series, along with its connection to Marvel Unlimited! Kylan then gets a treat as he discusses an article detailing Fox’s move to get rid of the Gambit movie and make room for two unknown Marvel movies in the next two years. Eric then finishes up the news portion of the issue with Disney’s take on Marvel Studios producing Rated R movies under Disney.

On the podcast side, AKA “The Backstory”, Mike breaks down an article on the possibility of Agent Coulson becoming a supervillain. The guys go from his first appearance to now discussing how that would, or would not, work. Kylan brings some rumor news, along with a feather in his hat. There are rumors floating about Shang Chi being cast in the Iron Fist series. There’s also talk, and some interesting sightings to corroborate Sly Stallone possibly being cast in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. How would that happen? Who would he play? Is it voice work? All of these questions and more are asked, answered and discussed. Eric closes out the issue with an article about Marvel’s “Women’s Powers Initiative”.

Kylan brought the Marvel Unlimited Book of the Month with Amazing Spider-Man #129 (1974), the first appearance of The Punisher!!

MMG Issue 108: We Like Us Some Most Wanted

In this issue of Mighty Marvel Geeks the Intrepid Trio are back to full power and ready to tackle the Marvel rich news for the week and comics galore. Kylan kicks it off with the wrap up for Agent Carter Episodes 8(The Edge of Mystery) and 9 (A Little Song and Dance). Mike and Eric join in breaking down the action, giving their take on what will happen in the season, or series, finale. Eric pipes in about what the end of the series could mean for Marvel television and the expanding S.H.I.E.L.D. universe with Marvel’s Most Wanted and the growing possibility of a Secret Warriors series. Mike then shares a story about the return of Timely Comics and what an interesting approach it is to introduce the readership to the All new, All Different Universe. Kylan then wraps up the news talk with Marvel’s announcement for their casting choice of Danny Rand in the Netflix Iron Fist series.

Eric than has double duty with the Marvel Unlimited Book of the week Marvel Team Up #65(1978) and the Book of the Month Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1(1995). This month’s bookclub appears as the back story on the podcast side.
